Allied Strategies draws each player cards equal to the number of colors in their commander's color identity — in a five-color deck, that's five cards for five mana at instant speed, which is exceptional rate. The catch is symmetry: every opponent draws too, so Allied Strategies belongs in decks that can exploit the refuel faster than anyone else at the table.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Allied Strategies is a Commander card through and through — the draw scales directly off color identity, a mechanic that only exists in that format. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but functionally unplayable: there are no commanders, the draw is a flat one card in a mono-colored context, and competitive spell efficiency runs far higher. Oathbreaker is the only other format where Allied Strategies finds a real home, since oathbreakers have color identities and five-color builds exist there too. Outside Commander and Oathbreaker, don't bother.

Price Context
Current price
$0.15 bulk tier
At $0.15, Allied Strategies is deep bulk — one of the cheapest five-card draw spells available in Commander for five-color builds. The price is stable and likely stays there; it sees no play outside Commander, which caps demand, but within its niche it consistently earns its slot.
