Alchemist's Retrieval

In Commander, Alchemist's Retrieval earns its slot in any blue deck that wants reactive interaction on the cheap — bouncing a problematic artifact, saving a creature from removal, or resetting an enters-the-battlefield trigger all on one mana. The casualty cost makes it a natural fit in sacrifice-heavy builds, where a token or expendable creature turns this into a modal spell with real upside. In Pauper it's a competitively costed tempo piece that fits blue control and flicker shells. In Modern and Legacy the bar for one-mana interaction is higher, and Alchemist's Retrieval gets outclassed by harder interaction, but it can find a home in niche combo decks that need cheap bounce. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander read — low floor, meaningful ceiling in the right shell.
