Alaborn Cavalier taps all blocking creatures an opponent controls at the start of combat — a repeatable pseudo-evasion effect stapled to a 2/2 body for four mana. The cost is that four mana buys almost nothing in Commander, and a 2/2 that doesn't attack past a single opponent's blockers is outclassed by nearly every alternative in white.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Alaborn Cavalier is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but legal doesn't mean playable. In Commander, the effect is narrow — it only taps one opponent's blockers, which matters not at all in a four-player game where two other opponents can still chump or threaten back. Legacy and Vintage have zero interest in a 2/2 for four that doesn't impact the board the turn it arrives. Oathbreaker is the one context where a targeted tap effect could theoretically matter, but there are cleaner ways to push damage through.

Current price
$0.24 bulk tier
At $0.24, Alaborn Cavalier sits firmly in bulk territory, and that price is unlikely to move — demand simply isn't there. It's cheap enough to slot in on a whim, but the better question is whether any slot is worth spending on it at all.
