Agent of Masks drains every opponent for one life per upkeep and gives it all to you — slow inevitability that compounds hard in multiplayer. Five mana for a 2/3 is a real cost, but in a four-player game the life swing is three per turn before you even attack.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is the only competitive home for Agent of Masks — the card is mathematically better the more opponents you have, and four-player pods make each upkeep trigger worth three life. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but unplayed; five mana for a fragile creature that doesn't immediately affect the board is nowhere near the power bar those formats demand. Agent of Masks belongs in Orzhov or Esper life-drain shells: Oloro, Ageless Ascetic, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, and similar commanders that reward grinding opponents' life totals down over many turns.

Price Context
Current price
$0.27 bulk tier
At $0.27, Agent of Masks is deep bulk — easy to pick up in any common box or throw into an order as filler. The price reflects real demand ceiling: it's useful in a narrow slice of Commander decks and has no competitive-format home to create price pressure.
