Aethertow bounces two attacking creatures to the top of their owners' libraries — a tempo swing that doubles as a soft tuck, setting those players back a draw. Five mana at instant speed is the real cost, and it's steep enough that Aethertow belongs only in decks that can consistently leverage the convoke reduction.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Aethertow is a Commander card through and through — the format's slower clock and multiplayer combat math make the two-target bounce genuinely disruptive, and convoke tokens are everywhere at that table. In Pauper it's legal but outclassed by cheaper tempo options that don't ask you to tap your board. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters; five mana for a bounce effect doesn't register in those formats. Stick to Commander and Oathbreaker, and only in shells that generate enough creatures to make convoke reliable.

Price Context
Current price
$0.03 bulk tier
At $0.03, Aethertow is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and postage, not the card. That price is stable by default; there's no pressure driving it up, and no reason to expect otherwise.
