Aetherblade Agent // Gitaxian Mindstinger is a proliferate-on-attack creature that transforms into a three-mana 3/3 with toxic 2 and a free-spell Phyrexian mana loot — solid incremental value for poison or proliferate builds. The front face is filler on its own, so this card lives or dies by whether your deck wants the transformed side badly enough to invest in flipping it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Aetherblade Agent // Gitaxian Mindstinger fits narrowly — proliferate and infect/toxic strategies want it, everyone else ignores it. Pauper is where it gets more interesting: common-legal proliferate payoffs are scarce, and the Mindstinger back half provides card selection that the format values highly. In Modern and Pioneer, it's too slow and fragile to compete with dedicated threat density, and Legacy and Vintage have no interest whatsoever. Oathbreaker follows the Commander logic — playable only if the signature spell or commander directly supports the poison or proliferate axis.

$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Aetherblade Agent // Gitaxian Mindstinger is deep bulk — pick it out of a common box rather than buying a copy online. Bulk dual-faced commons don't tend to climb unless a format-defining deck adopts them, and nothing on the horizon suggests that's coming.
