Access Tunnel card art
Access Tunnel makes any creature with power 2 or less unblockable for a single colorless mana per attack — a cheap, repeatable evasion engine that scales with any commander who swings small. Magar of the Magic Strings is the clearest beneficiary, since Magar's own 2/3 body sits just outside the threshold, but the commanders who do qualify get a land that taps for mana and threatens lethal with no additional investment.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Magar of the Magic Strings

Magar of the Magic Strings

78.1% of decks · synergy 0.75

Magar of the Magic Strings creates 2/2 Illusion tokens as copies of instants and sorceries, and Access Tunnel turns every one of those tokens into an unblockable attacker — connecting even a single one can snowball the Magar engine into lethal damage fast.

02
Frodo, Sauron's Bane

Frodo, Sauron's Bane

63.5% of decks · synergy 0.61

Frodo, Sauron's Bane needs to deal combat damage to progress through its Ringbearer modes, and Access Tunnel guarantees that connection every turn without requiring any additional evasion spells.

03
Delina, Wild Mage

Delina, Wild Mage

60.7% of decks · synergy 0.58

Delina, Wild Mage's copies are temporary, so every swing has to count — Access Tunnel removes the blocking variable entirely and lets Delina's attack-trigger loop run without interference.

04
Felothar the Steadfast

Felothar the Steadfast

70.8% of decks · synergy 0.56

Felothar the Steadfast cares about combat damage from small creatures triggering its ability, and Access Tunnel locks in that damage step against any board state, making Felothar's engine consistent.

05
The Pride of Hull Clade

The Pride of Hull Clade

55.3% of decks · synergy 0.54

The Pride of Hull Clade buffs creatures with the most counters and wants them connecting, so Access Tunnel provides guaranteed evasion for the key attacker without costing a spell slot.

Access Tunnel is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but its home is overwhelmingly Commander. In 60-card formats, colorless lands that enter untapped and only grant situational evasion almost never make the cut — the tempo cost of running a land that can't produce colored mana is prohibitive in faster formats where creatures need immediate protection, not a slow activation. In Commander, the math flips: games go long enough that a land generating colorless while doubling as a repeatable evasion tool is pure upside, especially for voltron or combat-trigger commanders whose strategy collapses if one key creature gets chump-blocked into irrelevance. Access Tunnel is a Commander card first and a curiosity in every other format.

Price Context

Current price

$0.61 bulk tier

At $0.61, Access Tunnel sits in bulk territory — cheap enough that there's no reason to cut it on price grounds in any deck that wants it. Bulk utility lands at this price point don't move much in either direction unless a commander spikes in popularity, so buy it when you need it and don't overthink it.
