Abzan Banner is a three-mana rock that taps for one of three colors and cantrips when you sacrifice it — functional, never exciting. At that rate, dedicated two-mana ramp almost always earns the slot instead.

In Commander, Abzan Banner occupies the low end of acceptable: it fixes white, black, and green mana and replaces itself late, which matters most in budget builds where better rocks aren't in the picture. Competitive Commander lists skip it entirely in favor of two-mana options.
