Abomination of Gudul gives you a 3/4 flyer with trample that replaces itself whenever it deals combat damage — solid stats paired with built-in card advantage. Six mana is a real ask, but in any Sultai shell that wants bodies in the graveyard or card draw stapled to threats, it earns the slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Abomination of Gudul is a Commander card through and through — six mana and a 'build around me' trigger don't translate to faster formats. In Pauper it's technically legal but competes against far more efficient common threats at every point on the curve. Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer are non-starters for the same reason; the damage-trigger draw is too slow when games end on turn three or four. Commander is the one format where a 3/4 flyer with trample that draws cards on hit can actually fire multiple times before anyone answers it, especially in go-wide or evasion-stacking Sultai builds.

$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Abomination of Gudul is pure bulk — you'll find copies in any common box at a local game store. Bulk rares with narrow applications rarely move in price, so don't expect this to spike; pick it up for a quarter out of a binder and call it done.
