Abandon the Post card art
Abandon the Post untaps up to two target creatures at instant speed — the payoff is combat tricks, mana reuse, or a second activation on something that taps to win the game. Two mana for that effect is acceptable only if you're already building around tap synergies; otherwise it's too narrow to justify the slot.

Format Analysis

In Commander, Abandon the Post earns its slot in decks that generate value through tapping — Krenko, Mob Boss; Emmara, Soul of the Accord; or any Inspired commander where untapping is the whole game plan. In Pauper it's a common, so the ceiling is real: aggressive or combo shells that need an instant-speed untap at low cost can absolutely run it. Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer have enough redundancy in this effect space that Abandon the Post rarely makes the cut over faster or more versatile options. It's legal across nearly every format, but the honest bracket is Pauper and Commander tap-synergy builds.

Price Context

Current price

$0.15 bulk tier

At $0.15, Abandon the Post is pure bulk — you're not buying it for financial reasons, you're buying it because it's the right piece for a specific deck. Bulk commons rarely move in price unless a new commander puts them on the radar, so don't expect this to appreciate.
